Installation Instructions:  

DATATYPE: compressedtar

1.  Download the following files to the /tmp directory on your machine:

    tf2007.tar.Z
    tf2007.txt
    tf2007hba.sh

2.  Read the release notes contained in this file.

3.  Now become root, and create the hba diskette. (This assumes that 
    tf2007.tar.Z is in the /tmp directory, and that /tmp is the 
    working directory.)

	$su
		(become the super user)
	#/tmp/tf2007hba.sh tf2007.tar.Z
		(This script will format and create the HBA diskette for you.)

4. You can now add the patch to your system via the pkgadd command or 
   use the diskette at installation time as an additional hba diskette.

	#pkgadd -d diskette1
		(This will add the package to an existing UnixWare system)

PTF2007 provides UnixWare 2.0 with a Beta release of support for the
Symbios Logic (formly NCR or AT&T-GIS) 53c8xx chipset and/or Symbios 
Logic 8xxxx host adapter boards.

SOLUTION SPECIFICS
------------------

General Description.
-------------------

PTF2007 is a Beta Release of a new Symbios Logic PCI to Fast-SCSI-2
host adapter boards using the 53c8xx or 8xxxx chipsets.

NOTE: This driver will not load on Compaq platforms using a host adapter
from Compaq Fast-SCSI-2 family of controllers, please obtain PTF2037.


New Features.
------------

The new driver implements support for Symbios Logic PCI to Fast-SCSI-2
controllers on PCI systems.

Software Notes and Recommendations.
----------------------------------

This PTF is for UnixWare 2.0x systems ONLY and should NOT be used
to install UnixWare 1.1 systems.

During installation, UnixWare will prompt you twice for the HBA floppy,
once before the UnixWare system packages are installed and once before
the system reboots.


Hardware Notes and Recommendations.
----------------------------------

The PTF is targeted for systems equipped with Symbios Logic PCI to
Fast-SCSI-2 controller.

Installation Instructions.
-------------------------

PTF2007 is an HBA floppy and is used during UnixWare OS installation
on systems using the Symbios Logic PCI to Fast-SCSI-2 controller.

To install PTF2007, simply use the HBA floppy during the course of
installation when prompted for the floppy.

Troubleshooting.
----------------

If the HBA driver is unable to successfully load please verify you
are using it on a system which includes the Symbios Logic PCI to
Fast-SCSI-2 controller.
