Package Installation If you intend to install any of the following packages: German Language Extension (dele) Graphics Display Support (display) Spanish Language Extension (esle) French Language Extension (frle) Italian Language Extension (itle) Japanese Language Extension (jale) Printer Support (lp) Network Interface Card Support (nics) you should install them before you install SCO UnixWare 2.1.1. (This list is in addition to the list provided in Section 2.2 of the SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Installation and Release Notes). You can install these packages after installing the update, however, if you do you will have to reinstall the update. Installing the SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Update Before installing the SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Update (update211) package, you should create emergency recovery diskettes and a back-up tape of your system. Single UNIX Specification Conformance To obtain a Single UNIX Specification conformant system, after installing the SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Update you will need to obtain and install PTF 3107 entitled "Single UNIX Specification Supplement, then as part of your setup you should add /u95/bin to the PATH of /etc/default/login. Network Interface Card Support Section 4.2 of the SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 Installation and Release Notes states that you can use the niccfg utility to remove the updated networking device drivers provided on the 2.1.1 NICs diskette. In fact, you must remove the SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 nics package and then reinstall the SCO UnixWare 2.1 nics package as detailed below: 1. Remove the current nics package: pkgrm nics 2. Insert the SCO UnixWare 2.1 CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive and mount it: mount -Fcdfs -r /dev/cdrom/device_name mount_point For example: mount -Fcdfs -r /dev/cdrom/c1b0t510 /CD-ROM_1 3.
