SCO® ARCserve®/Open from Cheyenne® is a comprehensive stand-alone and network backup and restore system for UnixWare 7 systems. Using either the graphical interface or the command line, SCO ARCserve/Open makes it easy to manage backup and restoration of selected files or complete systems, for a single server or for multiple servers and clients across a heterogeneous network. SCO ARCserve/Open's Changer option, coupled with a supported autochanger, provides fully automated, high capacity data storage management.SCO ARCserve/Open is able to backup and restore leading UNIX® system clients, as well as NetWare®, Microsoft® Windows®, Macintosh®, and OS/2® clients. These client agents are available from the SCO ARCserve/Open Client Agents Download page in the Free Software area.
By downloading and installing SCO ARCserve/Open from this location, you can use and evaluate the product's complete functionality, including the SCO ARCserve/Open Changer option and connections to 10 client systems, for sixty (60) days.

Downloading and Installing SCO ARCserve/Open Products
Depending on the speed and reliability of your Internet connection, you can select to download the SCO ARCserve/Open products as a complete tar file or as partial tar files.
- If you want to download a complete tar file:
You can now install the desired SCO ARCserve/Open products from either the UnixWare 7 Desktop or the UnixWare 7 command line.
- Select the complete product (C0*.tar) file from the SCO ARCserve/Open Download page.
- As root, move the file to a preferred installation directory:
mv C0*.tar /tmp1- Change to the installation directory:
cd /tmp1- Extract the installation package files from the tar file:
tar xvf C0*.tar
- If you want to download partial tar files:
You can now install the desired SCO ARCserve/Open products from either the UnixWare 7 Desktop or the UnixWare 7 command line.
- Download all of the partial product (P*.tar) files from the SCO ARCserve/Open Download page.
- As root, move the files to a preferred installation directory:
mv P*.tar /tmp1- Change to the installation directory:
cd /tmp1- Extract the contents of the tar files. You must run the following command on each of the partial product files:
tar xvf <filename>.tar
- Run the following command to build the arcserve.pkg file:
cat arcserve1 arcserve2 arcserve3 > arcserve.pkg
Installing SCO ARCserve/Open products from the Desktop
To install an SCO ARCserve/Open product from the UnixWare 7 Desktop:
After installing the SCO ARCserve/Open products, you should refer to the SCO ARCserve/Open Release and Installation Notes. To view these notes, return to the SCO ARCserve/Open Download page and click on the Release Notes link.
- Log in to the Desktop as owner.
- Start the Application Installer in one of these ways:
- Run the SCOadmin launcher from the Desktop and select Application Installer from the Software_Management folder.
- Enter scoadmin application installer at the prompt in a graphical terminal (xterm) window.
- In the ``Install From" list, select Other.
- In the ``Folder" field, erase the /usr/spool/pkg default entry and enter the name of the package you want to install, including the full path you specified in step 2 of the SCO ARCserve/Open Download procedure (i.e., /tmp1/<filename>.pkg), and press <Return>.
The SCO ARCserve/Open packages include:
- ARCserve
- both the Lite and Full versions of SCO ARCserve/Open
- ARCdoc
- the full online documentation for both the Lite and Full versions of SCO ARCserve/Open
- Click on Install.
Depending on the package you are installing, you may need to respond to some additional prompts. Answer these prompts as appropriate for your installation.
Repeat this step for each package you wish to install.
- When you have installed all desired packages, select Exit from the Actions menu.
SCO ARCserve/Open is installed in the /usr/lib/ARCserve directory.
- The installation defines several important environment variables in the /etc/profile and /etc/cshrc files. When you have completed the installation, run one of the following, depending on the shell you are using, to initialize the proper environment for running SCO ARCserve/Open:
source /etc/cshrc (for C-shell)
or
. /etc/profile (for Bourne or Korn shell)
Alternatively, you can log out and log back in to set up your environment for running SCO ARCserve/Open.
Installing SCO ARCserve/Open products from the command line
To install an SCO ARCserve/Open product from the UnixWare 7 command line:
- Log in as root.
- Run the pkgadd utility once for each SCO ARCserve/Open package you want to install:
pkgadd -d /tmp1<package_name>.pkg
The available packages are:
- ARCserve
- both the Lite and Full versions of SCO ARCserve/Open
- ARCdoc
- the full online documentation for both the Lite and Full versions of SCO ARCserve/Open
For example, to install the ARCserve package, you would enter:
pkgadd -d /tmp1/ARCserve.pkg

Licensing SCO ARCserve/Open products
To license your SCO ARCserve/Open products:
- As root, log in to the system where the SCO ARCserve/Open package has been installed.
- Start the License Manager in one of these ways:
- Run the SCOadmin launcher from the Desktop and select License Manager.
- Enter scoadmin license manager at the command line.
- Select the SCO ARCserve/Open product.
- Select License --> Add.
- Enter the following 60-day evaluation license:
License Number: EVLARCSER License Code: uqnclmyr License Data: b0000000003;d60;k0;q0;u10;m0rwnj8This evaluation license provides full SCO ARCserve/Open server functionality and ten client agent connections. Additionally, this license activates the Changer option.
Please remember that the evaluation licenses are good for sixty (60) days from the date of installation. Should you wish to use the product beyond the 60-day period, you can purchase a permanent Certificate of License and Authenticity (COLA) from your SCO Authorized Reseller.
Evaluation licenses cannot be reused; removing a product installed with a particular license and attempting to use that license for the installation of another product will fail.
