SCO ARCserve/Open from Cheyenne 2.2.0k for SCO OpenServer Release 5 Platforms
SCO® ARCserve®/Open
from Cheyenne® is a comprehensive
stand-alone and network backup and restore system
for SCO OpenServer Release 5 systems.
Using either the graphical interface or the command line,
SCO ARCserve/Open makes it easy to manage backup and
restoration of selected files or complete systems,
for a single server or for multiple servers and
clients across a heterogeneous network. SCO ARCserve/Open's
Changer option, coupled with a supported autochanger,
provides fully automated, high capacity data storage
management.
SCO ARCserve/Open is able to backup and restore leading
UNIX® system clients, as well as
NetWare®, Microsoft®
Windows®, Macintosh®,
and OS/2® clients. These client
agents are available from the SCO ARCserve/Open
Client Agents Download page in the Free Software
area.
By downloading and installing SCO ARCserve/Open from this location, you can use and evaluate the product's complete functionality, including the SCO
ARCserve/Open Changer option and connections to 10 client systems, for 60
(sixty) days.

important information about new feature functionality, upgrade information, and

Contents of the SCO ARCserve/Open Download File
There are several products and supplements provided
in the download file:

SCO ARCserve/Open from Cheyenne Release 2.2.0

The backup and restore server for SCO OpenServer Release 5,
including French and German language support and

The installation images for this product are
located in a subdirectory called arcserve220k.

SCO Advanced Server SCOadmin Supplement

This supplement provides the functionality for
adding client connection licenses on SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.0
systems. You should install this patch before installing
any SCO ARCserve/Open products.
The installation images for this supplement are
located in a subdirectory called oss414a.

SCO Virtual Disk Manager Supplement Release 1.1
-
This supplement provides for disaster recovery support
on SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.0 systems using
SCO Virtual Disk Manager. You should install this
patch before using either the preparation or recovery
components of the SCO ARCserve/Open Disaster Recovery System.
The installation images for this supplement are
located in a subdirectory called vdm110.

SCOhelp Supplement for Localization Support for SCO OpenServer 5.0.0
-
This supplement updates the SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.0 Online
Documentation Framework and the SCOhelp system binaries
so that localized documentation can be installed and used
in an SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.0 environment. You should
install this patch before installing SCO ARCserve/Open.
The installation images for this supplement are
located in a subdirectory called rs25c.

SCOhelp Supplement for Localization Support for SCO OpenServer 5.0.2
-
This supplement updates the SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.2
SCOhelp system binaries so that online HTML documents
and manual pages are fully accessible and readable.
You should install this patch before installing SCO ARCserve/Open.
The installation images for this supplement are
located in a subdirectory called rs311a.

for more complete information on these supplements
and for installation requirements.
Installation Dependencies
Please note the following installation dependencies:
-
SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.0 platforms
-
In all cases, install the SCO Advanced Server SCOadmin
Supplement before installing SCO ARCserve/Open.

If you want to use the SCO ARCserve/Open French or
German Support products, install the SCOhelp Supplement
for Localization Support for SCO OpenServer 5.0.0 before
installing SCO ARCserve/Open.
-
If you are using the SCO Virtual Disk Manager, install the
SCO Virtual Disk Manager Supplement Release 1.1 before
preparing the SCO ARCserve/Open Disaster Recovery system.
-
SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.2 platforms
-
If you want to use the SCO ARCserve/Open French or
German Support products, install the SCOhelp Supplement
for Localization Support for SCO OpenServer 5.0.2 before
installing SCO ARCserve/Open.
Downloading and Installing SCO ARCserve/Open Products
To download and install SCO ARCserve/Open products and
supplements:

Depending on the speed and reliability of your Internet connection,
you can select to download the SCO ARCserve/Open products
as a
complete
tar file or as
partial
tar files.
-
To download a complete tar file:
-
Select the complete product (C0*.tar) file from
the SCO ARCserve/Open Download page.
-
As root, move the file to a preferred installation
directory:
mv C0*.tar /tmp1
-
Change to the installation directory:
cd /tmp1
-
Extract the installation package files from the tar file:
tar xvf C0*.tar
-
To download partial tar files:
-
Download all of the partial product (P*.tar) files from
the SCO ARCserve/Open Download page.
-
As root, move the files to a preferred installation
directory:
mv P*.tar /tmp1
-
Change to the installation directory:
cd /tmp1
-
Extract the contents of the tar files. You must run the
following command on each of the partial product files:
tar xvf <filename>.tar
-
As root, start the Software Manager
in one of the following ways:
-
Double-click on the Software Manager icon in
the System Administration window on the Desktop.
-
Start the SCOadmin launcher by entering scoadmin
on the command line, then select Software Manager.
-
Enter scoadmin software manager on the command line.
-
Choose one of the following:
-
To install SCO ARCserve/Open, select Install New
from the Software menu.
-
To install any of the provided supplements, select
Patch Management and then the Apply Patch
option from the Software menu.
-
Select the host that contains the installation images that
you downloaded.
-
Select ``Media Images'' as your media device and press
Continue.
-
Enter the full path to the installation images
that you downloaded. For example, if you are installing
SCO ARCserve/Open, enter:
/tmp1/arcserve220k
NOTE: See
``Contents of the SCO ARCserve/Open Download File''
for the names of the subdirectories in which the SCO ARCserve/Open
product and supplement installation images are stored.

Highlight the desired SCO ARCserve/Open product or patch
then select either Full for a full installation
or Partial for a partial installation.
-
If you are installing an SCO ARCserve/Open product, you
are prompted for a product license.
If you do not have a permanent license, you can use
the following 60-day evaluation license:
License Number: EVLARCSER
License Code: uqnclmyr
License Data: b0000000003;d60;k0;q0;u10;m0rwnj8
This evaluation license provides full SCO ARCserve/Open
server functionality and ten client agent
connections. Additionally, this license activates the Changer option.
When you have finished entering the product license, click on License.

licensing and using the SCOadmin License Manager,
see the SCO OpenServer Handbook.

When the installation is complete, select Exit
from the Host menu.

Reboot your system.
After installing the SCO ARCserve/Open products, you
should refer to the SCO ARCserve/Open
Release and Installation Notes, which are available
from the SCOhelp documentation system. Alternatively, you
can view this document from the
SCO ARCserve/Open Download page by clicking on
the Release Notes link.
Configuration
Configuration instructions for SCO ARCserve/Open are
included in the product Release Notes.
To view the configuration information before installing
the product, return
to the SCO ARCserve/Open Download page
and click on the Release Notes link.
Licensing
Please remember that the evaluation licenses are good for
sixty (60) days from the date of installation. Should
you wish to use the product beyond the sixty day period,
you can purchase a permanent Certificate of License
and Authenticity (COLA) from your SCO Authorized Reseller.
Evaluation licenses cannot be reused; removing a product
installed with a particular license and attempting to
use that license for the installation of another product
will fail.

is installed with the product
(unless you choose otherwise)
and can be viewed with the scohelp browser.
