RealNetworks Basic Server Plus G2 for SCO OpenServer systems

Basic Server Plus(TM) provides an easy and quick solution for streaming media and allows your Internet or intranet users to easily access multimedia content in real time.

System Requirements

Software: SCO OpenServer(TM) Release 5
RAM: 64MB
128MB for medium traffic
256MB for heavy traffic

Disk space: 12MB free disk space
Other: Web server with configurable MIME types

Installation Notes

Before beginning the installation, see the Release and Installation Notes for the RealNetworks products, item #2 on the RealNetworks download page.

Before beginning the installation, download and print the Release and Installation Notes for the RealNetworks products from www.sco.com/documentation/postscript/realnet/osr5.
The PostScript files are provided in gzip (.gz) compressed format. Uncompress these files with gunzip from www.sco.com/documentation/postscript/bin/gunzip_osr5.tar.

Installation

Once you have downloaded the product tar file(s) from the Download page, perform the following steps as root:

  1. Move the file to a preferred installation directory:
    mv DL05404P000.tar /tmp1
  2. Change to the installation directory:
    cd /tmp1
  3. Using the tar command, extract the installation images:
    tar xvf DL05404P000.tar
  4. Use the SCOadmin Software Manager (custom) to install the product:
    1. Double-click on the Software Manager icon in the System Administration window on the Desktop, or enter scoadmin software manager at a root prompt.
    2. Click on Software, then Install New.
    3. When prompted for a machine, select the system you will be installing from.
    4. When prompted for a media device, select Media Images.
    5. When prompted for the Media Images directory, enter the directory name used in Step 1 (for example, /tmp1).
