Dear SCO Customer, The Secure Shell Supplement version 6.0.0Eb provides an updated version of OpenSSH for SCO OpenServer Releases 5.0.7 and 5.0.6. This supplement updates OpenSSH to version 4.0p1. This update supersedes openssh-3.8p1. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Software Notes and Recommendations 1. This supplement can be installed on the following SCO OpenServer releases: SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7 with Maintenance Pack 3 SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.6 with RS506A and OSS646C (or later) NOTE: Before installing this supplement, you must first install the following software: Supplemental Graphics, Web, and X11 Libraries, version 2.0.0Eb See ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver5/507/other/gwxlibs200Eb 2. The included components and their versions are listed below. OpenSSH 4.0p1 Pseudo Random Number Generator Daemon (prngd) 0.9.29 3. Note that you do not need to remove previous versions of this supplement. This package will automatically replace any older versions. 4. Installation Instructions To install this supplement follow these steps: 1. Download the media image tar(C) archive from: ftp://ftp.sco.com/pub/openserver5/507/other/openssh40p1 2. Place the files in a temporary directory such as /tmp/ssh and extract it using tar xvf openssh40p1_vol.tar 3. Run the Software Manager with the command: # scoadmin software or double-click on the Software Manager icon in the desktop. 4. Pull down the "Software" menu and select "Install New". 5. When prompted for the host from which to install, choose the local machine and then "Continue". 6. In the "Select Media" menu, pull down the "Media Device" menu. Select "Media Images", then choose "Continue". 7. When prompted for the "Image Directory", enter "/tmp/ssh" (or the directory where you placed the VOL file in step 2) and choose "OK". 8. When prompted to select software to install, make sure that the "Secure Shell" entry is highlighted. Choose "Install". 9. Installation is now complete. To exit the Software Manager, select "Exit" from the "Host" menu. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Removal Instructions 1. Log in as root. 2. Execute the command: # scoadmin software or double-click on the Software Manager icon in the desktop. 3. Highlight "Secure Shell". 4. Pull down the "Software" menu and select "Remove Software". 5. Once the removal finishes, quit the Software Manager. Removal is now complete.
