OpenServer 5.0.7V does not support the BusLogic (blc) device driver. blc does not handle VMware's use of SCSI Busy. As a result data corruption may occur. To prevent data corruption the Upgrade Supplement will switch your blc HBA controlled devices to the LSI Logic (lsil) device driver. If you installed you VM originally with the BusLogic SCSI Controller then you will need to change the SCSI Controller Type to LSI Logic once the Upgrade Supplement has been applied.
To change the SCSI Controller Type to LSI Logic do the following:
Now boot your Virtual Machine and when prompted to, change the adapter type of each of your machines virtual disks from Bus Logic to LSI Logic. Once this is done you should proceed to license and register your system.
If you are upgrading from SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 to OpenServer 5.0.7V then you must license your server with a valid SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 to OpenServer 5.0.7V Cross Grade license once the Upgrade Supplement has been applied. Failure to do so will result in limited access to the server. To license your server:
Now proceed to register your license as described below.
If you are upgrading from SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 to OpenServer 5.0.7V then you must register your server. If you do not register your product within 14 days of licensing it then system services will be restricted.
Registering your product provides the following benefits:
· it allows SCO to automatically notify you when your license needs to be renewed
· it protects your investment in case of loss of license.
Registering a product is a three-part process:
· Use the License Manager to get the information you need to register.
·
Visit the SCO OpenServer
Registration web page to obtain a Registration Key:
http://www.sco.com/registration
· Use the License Manager again to enter the Registration Key onto your system.
See ``Licensing and registering SCO OpenServer products'' for information on how to register your SCO OpenServer products using the License Manager.
SCO recommend that you:
· take a snapshot of your Virtual Machine once it has been configured and registered
