29 October 2007 KDE i18n Language Supplement Release 3.5.6 ======================================== This supplement adds support for a wide variety of locales to KDE 3.5.6. The download is quite large (~345MB) and may take considerable time to install. Use the KDE Control Center to configure your locale. Requirements: OpenServer 6 with Maintenance Pack 3 Dependencies: KDE 3.5.6 from Maintenance Pack 3 Installation: Download and extract the tar archive of media images for KDE3i18n (KDE3i18n-3.5.6Da-VOLS.tar) into an empty directory. For example: # cd /u/tmp/KDE3i18n # tar xvf KDE3i18n-3.5.6Da-VOLS.tar Using the SCO Software Manager (/etc/custom), select Software -> Install New -> From Select "Media Images" for the Media Device and "Continue" Enter the directory where the KDE3i18n media images were extracted (in above example, /u/tmp/KDE3i18n) for the Image Directory and press "OK". Configuration: After installing KDE 3.5.6 and then the KDE 3.5.6 i18n Language Support the KDE desktop can be configured for a wide variety of locales. To configure the KDE desktop with an alternate locale, first select the menu item Settings (Control Center) -> Regional & Accessibility -> Country/Region & Language. Next follow the Add Language button -> Other -> your desired language from the menu list, and click on Apply. Notes: If you have installed either or both of the French and German language support packages for KDE, you'll likely want to download the KDE 3.5.6 i18n Language Support to get matching localized support for the new KDE. However, if you have either or both of these packages installed, upgrading to KDE 3.5.6 will cause some custom sanity check errors as the newer i18n packaging for KDE is quite different. To repair this situation, after KDE 3.5.6 has been installed, you should remove the KDE French and KDE German Language Support Release 3.3.2 packages. The new KDE 3.5.6 i18n Language Support can now be installed, once these packages have been removed, without any custom errors.
