Please DO NOT report problems that are related to these limitations. They may be implemented and released in the form of free product updates when applicable.
NOTES:
You will most likely encounter this problem if you install from a "slipstreamed" Windows XP Service Pack 2 CDROM or certain "Upgrade" CDROMs. Other versions of Windows XP, as well as Windows 2000, do not have this problem.
If for example you want to install Service Pack 4, you will first have to install Service Packs 2 and 3 in order. Service Packs can be downloaded from http://support.microsoft.com. At the time of this writing, the following Windows 2000 Service Pack download pages are available:
- Windows 2000 Service Pack 2:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp2/- Windows 2000 Service Pack 3:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp3/- Windows 2000 Service Pack 4:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/servicepacks/sp4/
Note that it is not necessary to install Service Pack 1. Instead, you may start with Service Pack 2.
To install Windows 2000 Service Pack 2, run the Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 Network Installation. Using the Express Installation under MergePRO is not recommended. Restart Windows 2000 by clicking the Restart button when prompted.
To install Windows 2000 Service Pack 3, first install Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (see above.) Next, perform the following procedure exactly in this order:
- Click Start->Run..., and run the command B:\sp3pre. Press any key to close the window when prompted.
- Launch the Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 Network Installation. Using the Express Installation under MergePRO is not recommended. NOTE: When the installation finishes, check the box that reads Do not restart now, and then click the Finish button. If you restart the system at this stage, it will fail to boot.
- Click Start->Run..., and run the command B:\sp3post. Press any key to close the window when prompted.
- Click Start->Shutdown..., and select Restart to reboot your system. Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 should now be installed.
To install Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, first install Windows 2000 Service Packs 2 and 3 (see above.) Next, run the Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 Network Installation. Using the Express Installation under MergePRO is not recommended. Restart Windows 2000 by clicking the Finish button when prompted.
NOTE: at the time of this writing, Service Pack 2 provides the best performance and compatibility on MergePRO when running on non-x86/x86_64 host platforms. On these platforms, please use Service Pack 2 unless your software absolutely demands otherwise.
Values for MRGPRO_KBD_LANG are in ISO 639 two-character format. In some cases a country code is appended to account for differences between the same language in different countries. The following table lists the keyboard languages supported by MergePRO along with their corresponding MRGPRO_KBD_LANG setting:
NOTE: this table will expand as new keyboard language support is implemented in future updates of MergePRO
