All clients are installed via LAN connections to
an installation server. By default the build machine on which
you generate the product files is also an installation
server. However, in a production environment, the installation
server may need to be a separate system.
NOTE:
If you have multiple client configurations that are identical, it may
be possible to install those configurations using one of the methods
described in
``Deployment''.
Using any of these deployment methods may prevent you from having to
use an installation server for every client in your configuration.
Use custom to install the client product files on the
installation server.
The client product files can then be installed from the installation
server directly onto the target client systems as described in
``Deployment''.
The figure shown below demonstrates the toolkit product
installation method using a separate installation server.

NOTE:
If the server plus client site configuration you are installing is to be
used on multiple installation servers, you may be able to
use the Mass Installation Toolkit (MIT) to duplicate
the system server. This could save a lot of time if you have
multiple configurations
that are all the same. For more information on
MIT, contact SCO Professional Services.
