Dear SCO Customer,

Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF7055B, the Replacement Boot Floppy 
Installation Supplement for UnixWare 7.0.0, provides fixes to the 
sd01 target disk driver which are needed to install with DDI-8 (Device 
Driver Interface version 8) drivers (for example, hotplug HBAs).

SLS PTF7055B also corrects a problem found in SLS PTF7055A that prevented 
it from working with non-English language installations.


Software Notes and Recommendations
----------------------------------

Important note: SLS PTF7002C, the MPIO/Clariion Supplement for UnixWare 7, 
is also required for installation along with the replacement boot floppies 
in SLS PTF7055B. Make sure that you have a PTF7002C disk available for use 
with SLS PTF7055B.

PTF7055B consists of two floppy images.  These are to be used as replacement
boot floppies for those found in the UnixWare 7.0.0 distribution. During the
installation, you will be asked if you have any PTFs to install. Install
PTF7002C at this time.  You may additionally install certain other PTFs at
this time if required.

SLS PTF7055B should only be installed on:

      UnixWare 7.0.0 with the UnixWare 7 Release Supplement (uw7rs) applied

This SLS is intended for use on i386, i486 and Pentium CPUs.


Installation Instructions
-------------------------

Note: SLS PTF7055B should only be used during the installation of UnixWare 7.

1. Download the files ptf7055b.bt1.dd and ptf7055b.bt2.dd to the /tmp
   directory on a UNIX system. 
 
   Note:   If you do not have access to a UNIX system, you can create
           both of these diskettes using the public domain DOS program
           'rawrite'.  This utility is available from SCO's website at:

                ftp://ftp.sco.com/TLS/tls096.zip

2. Create the first boot floppy diskette image with the command:

      # dd if=ptf7055b.bt1.dd of=/dev/dsk/f0t bs=18k

3. Label this diskette, "UnixWare PTF7055B Replacement Boot Floppy 1".

4. Create the second boot floppy diskette image with the command:

      # dd if=ptf7055b.bt2.dd of=/dev/dsk/f0t bs=18k

5. Label this diskette, "UnixWare PTF7055B Replacement Boot Floppy 2".

6. Use the newly created Replacement Boot Floppy 1 to boot the system. 
   When prompted for the UnixWare 7 Installation Diskette 2, insert the
   Replacement Boot Floppy 2 diskette and proceed with the installation. 

7. At the prompt "Action - Install a PTF diskette or Continue Installation",
   select "Install a PTF" and insert PTF7002C when prompted to insert a PTF 
   diskette. 

8. After the installation of SLS PTF7002C, select "Continue Installation" 
   and complete the installation of UnixWare.


Removal Instructions
--------------------

SLS PTF7055B is an installation-only supplement. Once it is installed, there 
is no need to remove PTF7055B.
